Eating Disorder Therapy in California

Struggles with food and body image can be exhausting, isolating, and deeply consuming. You may feel trapped in cycles of restriction, guilt, bingeing, body checking, comparison, or shame, even if others have no idea how much energy it takes to keep everything looking “fine.” Therapy can help you understand the emotional roots of these patterns and build a more supportive relationship with food, your body, and yourself.

what this may look like

You may be struggling with:

  • obsessive thoughts about food, weight, or body image

  • guilt or anxiety after eating

  • cycles of restriction, bingeing, or compensatory behaviors

  • feeling out of control around food

  • using food, control, or body focus as a way to cope emotionally

  • shame, secrecy, or perfectionism around eating

how therapy can help

Eating disorder recovery is not just about behavior change. It is also about understanding the emotional function these patterns may be serving. In therapy, we can work to reduce shame, increase awareness, strengthen coping tools, and create space for a more grounded and compassionate way of relating to yourself.

my approach

My approach to eating disorder therapy is compassionate, relational, and evidence-informed. I integrate insight-oriented work with practical support, helping you explore the emotional, relational, and internal pressures that may be shaping your experience. I also pay close attention to perfectionism, anxiety, self-worth, identity, and the deeper meaning food and body control may hold.

why clients choose me

Clients often come to me because they are tired of feeling stuck between wanting to heal and feeling afraid to let go of familiar patterns. I offer a space that is warm, nonjudgmental, and thoughtful, where we can move at a pace that feels honest and sustainable.

FAQs

Not at all. Many people seek therapy because they are struggling with body image, food anxiety, restrictive patterns, bingeing, or a difficult relationship with food, even if they have never received a formal diagnosis.

can therapy help if i look “high functioning” on the outside?

Yes. Many people with eating disorder symptoms appear successful, capable, and put-together outwardly while privately feeling overwhelmed and consumed internally.

Yes. I currently offer all sessions via telehealth for clients in California.

You do not have to keep managing this alone.
